Join us at this free workshop, which is open to the community in honor of Peace Week Bucks County 2008.

We are featuring Dr. David Hall, nationally-renowned teacher and humanitarian, Doctor of Human Sexuality Education, and trainer on creating safer schools.
He will help us to examine the impact of homophobia and heterosexism on bullying and harassment, identify different types of bullying and how they impact LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning) youth, analyze the motivations of a bully, and learn various approaches to support a target of bullying.

New Hope Celebrates Film

New Hope Celebrates is presenting its first Film Festival, featuring films with LGBT main characters. For the main event of the weekend, the 2007 Oscar winning Short Documentary, Cynthia Wade's "Freeheld", will be shown on Saturday, April 26 at the Bucks County Playhouse at 12 p.m. "Freeheld" is the story of a lesbian couple's plight to receive same-sex benefits in Orange County, New Jersey and documents the journey of Garden State Equality, whose activism resulted in gay civil marraige rights in that state. The National Day of Silence

The National Day of Silence brings attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools. This year’s event will be held in memory of Lawrence King, a California 8th-grader who was shot and killed February 12 by a classmate because of his sexual orientation and gender expression. Hundreds of thousands of students will come together on April 25 to encourage schools and classmates to address the problem of anti-LGBT behavior.

Solebury School's Spectrum is hosting its Fourth Annual Spectrum Summit, for Pennsylvania and New Jersey Gay-Straight Alliances. Members, leaders, advisors, and supporters of Gay-Straight Alliances are all welcome to attend. The event will begin at 6:30PM with a College Mixer, where college students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or allies will talk about their personal experiences at college being out, the climate for LGBTQA students at their colleges, and much more. Pandora Scooter, amazing slam poet and "Rhymescape Philosopher" will be performing, and then hosting an Open Mic afterward. Don't miss this exciting event!

Katie Stewart from Equality Advocates PA's Youth Law Project visits the Rainbow Room.

Join us as Katie Stewart talks about Equality Advocates PA's Youth Law Project and what it means for youth who identify as LGBTQA. The Youth Law Project provides direct legal services, advocacy, education, and outreach to children and youth affected by anti-LGBT bias in Pennsylvania. The project takes an innovative approach by serving both LGBTQ youth and children raised in LGBT-headed families (http://www.equalitypa.org).

Youth Advocacy Workshop at the Attic Youth Center

Equality Advocates PA is presenting this workshop where youth will learn lobbying techniques and organizing skills for advocacy around LGBT issues, using the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act (to include sexual orientation and gender identity under the state nondiscrimination law) as an example.
